Whilst filling out a company profile, I was directed to complete a section on the social impact of our business on our community and I was amazed – but not surprised – at what BWT physio gives back in so many ways! You can click on the links for more information as you read through.
Here are just some of the wonderful actions and people that BWT Physio are committed to and have working with us.
Blue Light card holders in the emergency services, NHS, social care sector and armed forces, are provided with discounted treatment. https://www.bluelightcard.co.uk/
BWT Physio supports a nominated local charity each year. This year it is the Sheltered Work Opportunities Project (SWOP) – this provides horticulture as a means of rehabilitation for mental health rehabilitation. Venues are at The Chestnut and Cherry Tree Nurseries in Poole and Bournemouth where plant sales raise funds to use therapeutic horticulture to restore mental wellbeing, and give purpose to people’s lives. The charity was set up to: address an identified need for meaningful occupation in a supportive and pressure-free environment, for adults with severe and enduring mental illness and to endeavour to reduce stigma and discrimination by increasing public awareness of mental illness. Most recently funds were raised for the charity at a talk on how to garden pain free! https://www.facebook.com/events/489891233288867?ref=newsfeed
The next talk is following a request for ‘Sleep – how to do it well!’
Local schools, businesses, groups and charities also benefit from talks on wellness, given without charge, on a variety of subjects. https://www.facebook.com/bwtphysio/photos/pb.100063508575619.-2207520000./3332957230271845/?type=3
A defibrillator registered with The Circuit is situated in our premises for community use. https://www.facebook.com/bwtphysio/photos/pb.100063508575619.-2207520000./3356393401261561/?type=3
BWT Physio supports the local branch of the Parkinson’s Society with subsidised classes and treatments for its members.
Tom Jeffrey, Mark Seal, Matt O’Neill and Jennifer Cullom are just a few of our staff who have raised thousands of pounds for charities via trail runs, swims, marathons and even rowing the Atlantic! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHVcibGXWJ0
Matt O’Neill has a unique story behind his decision to become a physio. As part of his own rehab he now gives back as a diving instructor with the British Sub Aqua Club to make diving accessible to all. Read his story here https://www.bwtphysio.co.uk/team/matt-oneill/
And internationally . . .
BWT uses water coolers supplied by AquAid – a charity that sponsors digging wells in communities in Africa. BWT Physio have a sponsored well in situ. https://www.bwtphysio.co.uk/bwt-physio-proudly-support-aquaid/
These are only a few of the projects and people that make up the BWT Physio family. Thank you to everyone that has supported each activity.
