Having worked at Poole Hospital for 12 years in various departments, Mark found his passion and thirst for knowledge when working as a physiotherapy assistant in the therapy department. During his time here, Mark specialised in trauma and orthopaedics, focusing on rehabilitating patients from injuries and conditions such as hip replacement, fractured bones and sports injuries.

He also assisted in running the cardiac rehabilitation program, which concentrated on improving strength, stamina and confidence for people who had suffered a heart attack or had recent heart surgery.

Over my 12 years of NHS experience I have been fortunate to, and loved seeing, people in my care progress and achieve their goals; gaining tremendous job satisfaction from becoming a person they can trust and rely on.

I am excited to be part of the team at BWT, working in both clinic and community settings. My aim is to provide the high standard of care BWT is known for, by rehabilitating people in their own homes, care homes and in community classes, alongside specialised sessions in the Parkstone clinic.

One of Mark’s main hobbies outside of work is running and setting himself challenges. In 2016, Mark completed his first marathon in Bournemouth, helping raise money for The Make a Wish Foundation. In 2019, Mark also ran the Paris Marathon for the Poole Hospital Charity and raised £1,000 for specialist physiotherapy equipment to aid patients’ rehabilitation on the ward.

During the pandemic, Mark wanted to do something to help others, and decided to run 72 miles, for the 72nd NHS birthday, by running from home to work for 4 days straight! The finish line was along Southbourne beach and Mark raised a whopping £2,600 for Poole food bank, and was delighted to meet some of the volunteers who work tirelessly to help support our local community.
