Dr Megan Kendall Clinical Psychologist
My name is Dr Megan Kendall, I am a Clinical Psychologist based in Poole, Dorset. I studied for my doctorate at Surrey University, qualifying in 2011 and moving to Dorset with my family a couple of years later. I worked in NHS mental health services for 17 years, leaving at the end of 2020 to focus on supporting people through my private practice, Harbour Psychology.
I am trained to a high level in several different evidence-based therapeutic approaches which I adapt to help children, teenagers and adults experiencing a wide range of psychological and mental health difficulties. See here for further information:
My areas of interest include supporting people to recover and adapt after traumatic experiences – this includes one-off, unexpected events such as a car accident, to adapting to life following physical illness; to much more complex, long-standing issues such as childhood abuse and neglect. While trauma affects us all in some way at one time or another, sometimes we need help and guidance in making sense out of what has happened and finding a sense of stability. Therapy is one way of aiding recovery and I feel privileged to support people for part of their recovery journey.
Outside of work, my children like to keep me busy, I enjoy long walks by the sea, spending time with good friends, and dreaming of travelling the world once again sometime in the future!
