Dizzy Clinic
The BWT Dizzy Clinic has the advantage of specialist vestibular physios who will work with you to understand what you mean when you ‘ feel dizzy’, enabling a precise diagnosis and treatment plan that will help you recover from what are really debilitating symptoms.
After carrying out a thorough assessment to establish the underlying cause of your dizziness we will provide a customised vestibular treatment and rehabilitation programme.
Clear explanations of what is happening, and how you can manage your condition at home, will be given and, where necessary, regular reviews will be offered.
A condition we see frequently is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo or BPPV for short. BWT physiotherapists are able to treat BPPV very effectively using a specialist technique called the Epley manoeuvre.
The Epley manoeuvre is a series of movements of your head, guided by the therapist. It is a quick and highly effective treatment. it involves a precise series and combination of movements of your head and body that utilise gravity and the shape of the canals in your ears to move tiny crystals or canaliths. With each movement, the crystals are re-positioned into a tiny baglike open area (vestibule) that houses one of the otolith organs in your ear. Here these particles cease to cause symptoms and are more easily reabsorbed.
It can be totally effective in as little as 1 appointment, although can take up to 3.
We have a high success rate in diagnosis and treatment of BPPV and falls prevention with experience in managing and treating the following conditions:-
