PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT

How much does an appointment cost?

At BWT Physio, we offer a variety of treatments and services for both initial assessments through to follow up appointments. The length of time and cost will vary accordingly.

As part of our tailored approach, for all new patients and/or new injury, we will arrange a telephone triage call with a physiotherapist to further discuss the medical details of your injury/area of concern prior to your appointment and to place you with the right therapist.

How long is an appointment?

Your initial physiotherapy consultation is usually up to 45 mins, whereby the physiotherapist will assess, diagnose and commence treatment. Should you require any follow-up appointments, these are generally 30 mins, however we do offer longer appointments if needed.

Please note that other specialist appointments can vary between 15 – 60 minutes, depending on the appointment type.

How long do I have to wait for an appointment?

Our aim is to get you booked in to assess, diagnose and start treatment within 48 hours. Please note that appointments can be booked up quickly, particularly at peak times, therefore we would advise booking in advance where possible.

Do you have parking?

We have ample parking at both our Parkstone Clinic and West Hants Clinic locations. Please visit our website to view locations.

Why have I been referred?

If we have received a consultant/GP referral for you, this is because the consultant/GP believes physiotherapy may be beneficial. If you believe this to be incorrect, please let us know and we will respond to your referrer.

Can you provide physiotherapy under my health insurance policy?

Yes, we are registered with most major insurers.  Please ensure that you have your membership number and claim reference to hand on or before your appointment.

We deal directly with AXA and BUPA but for other insurers our Reception Team will be happy to assist in providing detailed invoice(s).

Do you do home visits?

Home visits can be provided where there is a specific clinical requirement. These are a charged on an individual case basis, as we need to take into consideration additional time for travel.

For further information regarding home visits, please contact us via our contact form on Nursing home, care home and home visit Physiotherapy (bwtphysio.co.uk)

Do you do evening and weekend appointments?

Yes, we are open 8am – 6:30 pm during the week and 9am – 1pm on Saturdays. Evening and weekend appointments are very popular therefore we would advise to book in as soon as possible.

Are your physiotherapists regulated by the Health and Care Professionals Council?

All physios are HCPC registered, and all therapists hold professional insurances relevant to their profession.

YOUR APPOINTMENT

Can I bring a family member or friend with me to my appointment?

Yes, any person you feel comfortable attending your appointment is welcome to stay with you for your treatment session.

What should I wear to my appointment?

We would advise that you wear clothing that enables the physiotherapist to have easy access to work on the area(s) of concern. For example, please wear shorts for leg injuries and vest tops for back issues and we would advise that clothing is loose and made of thin material.

Do I have to remove any clothing?

Our therapists will need to examine the ares(s) of concern so please ensure that clothing is loose and of thin material. Any movement of clothing, or any request to remove any clothing, will only be carried out with the patient’s consent.

Do I need to bring a GP letter or MRI scan results with me to my appointment?

If you have a letter or results from appointments that relates to the area of concern, please bring these with you, however it is not essential.

Alternatively, you can email Reception on info@bwtphysio.co.uk who will attach the letter/results to your patient record.

Why do you need to call me before my first visit?

As a new patient or when you have a new injury, we will arrange a telephone triage call with you, whereby you will speak directly with one of our physiotherapists prior to attending your first appointment.

This is to gain medical background of the area of concern or injury and to also ensure that your treatment is with the best practitioner for you and that any risk of attending the clinic is less than the risk of your condition deteriorating.

What should I expect on my first visit?

At your initial consultation, your physio will assess, diagnose and commence treatment of the area of concern or injury.

In order to tailor treatment, your physio may require further information such as general day to day activities, work and hobbies, on top of the information already received at the telephone triage call. This enables the physiotherapist to build up a holistic observation of your lifestyle, therefore allowing treatments and exercise plans to be adapted to your individual needs to achieve optimal results.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

I’ve not been sent my exercises.

If you have not received your exercises via email from your physiotherapist, please check your junk email folder. If you have not received your exercises, please feel free to email us at info@bwtphysio.co.uk and we will resend you your exercises.

What Covid-19 measures are in place?

We are COVID Safe and follow all professional requirements for Covid-19 screening, risk assessment and patient consent procedures. As a medical practice BWT staff will wear face masks and appropriate PPE if requested.
